With over 22 years of experience as an educator, including 18 years as Atlanta’s most in-demand studio teacher, Celena Shackelford Cater has built an impressive career working with child actors on some of the biggest productions in film and television. Ms. Cater has contributed to the making of projects such as The Walking Dead, Selma, Hidden Figures, Creed, Marvel: Infinity Wars, Ozark, Raising Dion, Atlanta, The Hunger Games, Tyler Perry’s Sistas, and Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. Known for exceptional dedication to student success both on set and academically, Ms. Cater expertly balances the unique challenges of education in the entertainment industry while fostering a safe environment where young performers can thrive in their craft.

Celena’s inspiration for starting Peak Performance Academy stems from a deep commitment to ensuring that student actors, performers, and athletes do not have to choose between their education and their professional aspirations. After years of working with talented young performers in demanding industries, she recognized the need for a learning environment that supports both academic excellence and the pursuit of professional goals. By creating this hybrid school, the founder seeks to provide students with the flexibility, resources, and individualized support needed to thrive in both areas, empowering them to achieve their full potential.
